Looking back at the pictures published on this blog, you'll see dark, grainy photos that fail to do justice to our little house. In many ways, it was a great first home for our family. But it no longer met our needs. When we bought it five years ago, we had three kids. When we decided to try to sell it, we had five.
We took a giant leap of faith putting it on the market. For weeks, we worked late into the night, nearly every night. We did an incredible amount of work to make it pristine for showing. Less than three weeks after it was listed, a miracle happened:
Selling your home is an exhausting and emotional journey. After slowly working over five years to get that house the way I wanted it, it finally felt like home. And yet to prepare to sell our house, we had to separate ourselves from it emotionally. It was no longer our home.
Moving day was insane. At the end of the day after all our belongings were moved out of our house, I remember going through each room, now empty. It was surreal and bitter-sweet. How many memories we had in each of those rooms!
Do I sound melancholy? Let me clarify, we were thrilled to sell our house. It wasn't all smooth sailing. There were plenty of bumps along the way, and painful lessons learned. But we found another home and we really love it. More on our new house coming up...

I completely understand how you feel. It is a part of your family, but exciting to expand that family too!
