Leeds Castle & Dover

On Wednesday, we took our own "walking tour" of London. We visited more markets; Covent Garden and Picadilly Circus.

After Lunch we walked through St. James Park

And also past Buckingham Palace.

We also spent a little time at the British Museum.

I am so bad at remembering to have my camera out all the time. But we enjoyed the day and got a good workout at the same time!

Thursday, we traveled to see Leeds Castle and Dover Castle. This was one of our favorite days. Leeds Castle. (Did you know Henry VIII used to live here?)

Next stop: Dover Castle. Dover was built as a military fortress, originally by King Henry V. King Henry had a troublesome family. His sons fought over the throne. His wife was disloyal to him. Two of his sons, Prince Richard and Prince John are the very ones you hear about in Robin Hood.

We climbed to the top of the castle and out onto the roof.

We also toured The Secret Wartime Tunnels. This was an incredible part of the trip! We weren't allowed to have cameras. Inside the cliffs of Dover, there are extensive tunnels that have been built. Originally, they were used as a safe place from a feared invasion by Napoleon. They were also used during WWII. Read more about it here.

After, we enjoyed a walk and dinner at a nearby beach called St.Marageret's Beach.
